Community Service


A Greenwood Village resident since 1992, Freda served on the Greenwood Village Board of Adjustments and Appeals for eleven years, including six as Chairperson. She also chaired the city's Redistricting Commission. In 2012, Freda was appointed to the Planning & Zoning Commission, where she served over three years until being elected to City Council in November, 2015. In 2014, Freda was appointed to the Arapahoe County Citizens Review Panel. She is a graduate of the inaugural class of Greenwood Village University. In addition to government service, Freda served on her neighborhood's Homeowners Association Board of Directors two separate times. During her children's school years, she was on the Board of the Parent Teacher Organization of Greenwood Elementary. An active volunteer at West Middle School and Cherry Creek High School, Freda completed the school district's year long Cherry Creek Schools Leadership Program.

Education & Professional


Freda graduated from George Washington High School in Denver and the University of Colorado in Boulder. She holds a B.S. in Accounting, and is a C.P.A. After working in public accounting at Arthur Andersen & Co, she was appointed Assistant to the City Controller of the City of Chicago. She left Chicago as Deputy Director of the city's Department of Revenue to return to Colorado to accept the position of Director of Tax Compliance with the Treasury Division of the City and County of Denver.

Personal


Freda and her husband, Dr. Jerry Miklin, an interventional cardiologist with SCL Health Systems, are the parents of 5 children, including 2 sets of twins. One works in software implementation, one is in the Masters of Accounting program at Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, one attends the Miller School of Medicine at the University of Miami, and two attend Indiana University-Bloomington. When she is not busy with her family or her responsibilities on City Council, Freda enjoys running, skiing, cooking, writing poetry, and playing and teaching the game of Mah Jongg.
