Greenwood Village Police Department
The men and women of the Village Police Department are committed and passionate about serving their community. The Village Police Department is a progressive police organization with an outcome based policing philosophy. Outcome based policing is derived from the Village’s outcome based management system. It is an expansion of traditional policing to include problem solving, intervention, partnerships and community based policing as a means to prevent crime, fear of crime, and social disorder. The Village Police Department is focused on providing consistent, high quality police service.

Patrol Division
The Patrol Division consists
of the Traffic Unit, K-9 Unit, Court Security, School Resource Officers, Code Enforcement, Patrol and the Emergency Response Team. Staff members provide crime prevention and safety solutions for the residents and businesses of the Village. 

Investigations consists of Detectives, Crime Lab, Evidence, and Victim Assistance. Their primary purpose is to resolve cases by conducting follow-up and initiating criminal investigations. In addition, staff members collect, preserve, process and dispose of all evidence and property.

Support Services
Support Services consists of Records, Recruitment, Training, 9-1-1 Center and Grants. Staff members provide specialized service to ensure the safety of residents, businesses and other members of the police department, and maintain all criminal records.

18th Judicial District Critical Response Team Protocol

The City of Greenwood Village is located within the 18th Judicial District. This judicial district has developed protocols for the use of a multi-agency team designated to fully investigate the use of deadly force, typically through the discharge of a firearm by an officer(s), resulting in injury or death. This team works at the direction of the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office and is typically comprised of members from participating law enforcement agencies, D.A.’s investigators and attorneys, and other specialized investigative agencies as appropriate including Coroner’s offices and/or the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.Whenever a member of the Greenwood Village Police Department is involved in a deadly force encounter where the officer(s) discharges his/her firearm, the Critical Response Team (18th Judicial District) will investigate the incident according to the criteria detailed below. These teams may also be used any time the agency CEO requests their assistance to investigate any use of force situation resulting in death.
