2012 Municipal Election and Candidate Information

The City of Greenwood Village holds its regular municipal elections in odd numbered years on the first Tuesday of November. Eight councilmembers will be elected at the 2013 election; two from each voting Ddstrict who will each serve a two year term. The mayor who is elected at-large and serves a four year term was recently elected November 2011. The mayor’s term does not expire until 2015.
Special elections may be called by the city council and may be held at any time. Special elections are often held in conjunction with Arapahoe County and are held in November of even-numbered years. Special elections are usually limited to consideration of ballot issues. Special elections may also be on a different date and administered entirely by the Village city clerk.
All municipal elections are non partisan.
Register to Vote Online
If you have a Colorado State driver's license or ID card issued by the Department of Revenue you may register online at
Go Vote Colorado.
You must meet the following qualifications in order to register to vote:
- Be a United States citizen
- Be at least 18 years of age by election day
- Be a Village resident for 30 consecutive days and a resident of your district for 30 days before election day
- Must not have been convicted of a felony or other loss of civil rights which would make it unlawful to vote
Re-register to vote if you changed your address or changed your name. When you move, notify the Arapahoe County Election Department or the Greenwood Village’s City Clerk’s office. This notification can be in made the form of a properly completed voter registration application.
In order to change your political party affiliation you must complete a new voter registration application showing your new party affiliation. For municipal elections you may vote for all offices and applicable ballot questions on your ballot, regardless of your party affiliation. All notifications of changes must have your handwritten signature.
In addition to the qualifications listed above, military personnel and their dependents temporarily living outside of Colorado, and Village residents temporarily living overseas, must not be registered to vote in another state if they wish to register to vote in Colorado.
