Auto Purchase/Lease

Automotive vehicles registered to an address located in the Village are exempt from the 3.0 percent City sales/use tax.  The tax rate for local residents or business owners purchasing or leasing an automobile is 4.35 percent. This tax rate includes 2.9 percent for the State of Colorado, 1.0 percent for the Regional Transportation District (RTD), 0.1 percent for the Cultural District, 0.1 percent, for the Football District, and 0.25 percent for Arapahoe County. 

Local car dealerships are aware that the Village does not impose our sales/use tax on motor vehicles registered to an address in Greenwood Village.  However, if the dealership is uncertain, please have them contact a member of Taxpayer Services at (303) 486-8299.
