Preserving Land
Conservation easements are one option of preserving land from future development and ensuring that property is enjoyed by future generations. These properties can range from a wetland area to an urban forest, or from land along the High Line Canal to a former farm.
Conservation easements make it possible for a land owner to protect the natural characteristics and features of a property in perpetuity, to receive tax benefits for doing so and to continue to live on and enjoy the property. Donating land for conservation purposes is truly one of the finest and generous legacies a person can leave to future generations.
