Meandering through the western portion of Greenwood Village, the High Line Canal and trail is one of the most popular and treasured areas of the city. Safety improvements to this historic trail have been completed at the trail crossing at Orchard Road, west of University Boulevard.
Orchard Road and the High Line Canal trail were opened to the public on Friday, June 30th. This project is substantially complete, and the contractor is currently completing remaining items which include permanent striping and landscape restoration.
With the goal of the project to increase pedestrian visibility on the trail approaching the Orchard Road crossing, the new curb extensions will serve as a traffic calming measure as the roadway has been narrowed to one lane in each direction, and the previous roadway shoulder has been replaced with raised curbs and new ramps. The bridge deck on Orchard Road was replaced as part of this project in collaboration with the City of Centennial.
