Special Election 2024

Greenwood Village City Council has called for a Special Municipal Election scheduled for April 16, 2024. This election will be conducted as a Mail Ballot Election. Active voters will receive a ballot in the mail between March 25 - March 29. Voters will be voting on one ballot question.

Important Dates

March 25: First day that ballots may be mailed to voters. Drop-off locations are open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
April 12: Last day a voter may request a ballot be sent by mail
April 16: Greenwood Village’s Special Election Day; drop-off locations close at 7:00 PM.

Ballot Question

On the ballot, the following question will be submitted to residents for consideration:

“Question: Shall the Parcel of Land consisting of Lot 4, Block 1, Hampden Town Center Subdivision Filing 6, City of Greenwood Village, County of Arapahoe, State of Colorado containing 5.78 acres more or less be disconnected from the City of Greenwood Village?”

Description

On this single-question ballot, voters will vote on whether a parcel of undeveloped property located north of I-225 should be disconnected from Greenwood Village. Colorado law allows owners of 5 or more acres of land located on the boundary of a city to petition for disconnection if the city does not provide the same municipal services as the rest of the city. The owner of the 5.78-acre vacant parcel of property has asked to disconnect the property from Greenwood Village because the Greenwood Village Police Department is unable to reach the property for Priority 1 calls in the same average amount of time that it can reach other parts of the city due to its location and limited access.
