Liaisons - Regional Issues

In an effort to ensure representation at the local and regional level, the Village is actively involved in local, regional, and statewide issues that may impact the quality of life of Greenwood Village residents.


Below is a description of some of the local and regional entities the Village works with to promote the quality of life of the region.

Cherry Creek State Park

Cherry Creek Water Quality Authority Board

City Council Liaisons: Tom Stahl

Cherry Creek State Park and Reservoir is Colorado’s most popular state park and offers an abundance of recreational opportunities. The Village has taken a leading role in protecting Cherry Creek State Park by addressing water quality issues and preserving this regional amenity.


High Line Canal Working Group

City Council Liaisons: Dave Bullock

The High Line Canal Working Group is made up of 20 local city and county governments, special districts, and non-profit organizations. The working group is a collaborative effort to secure funding for - and implement - projects that will help ensure and protect the unique and valuable recreation experience along the High Line Canal corridor.

Our vision is to ensure that the High Line Canal will always remain an intimate open space and continuous recreation experience along the historic, naturally scenic corridor. Arapahoe County is the sponsor of the working group. The High Line Canal Working Group meets the third Wednesday of each month, typically at the Greenwood Village City Hall Community Room.


Cherry Creek School District

Littleton Public Schools

City Council Liaison: Dr. Judith Hilton

Education is a very important part of our community and quality of life. The Village continues to provide school resource officers, as well as education programs to promote positive youth development. The Village is actively involved in school related issues such as safety for our youth and traffic issues around school campuses. The Village also provides funding to schools for school-related events and programs.

The Chamber

City Council Liaison: Donna Johnston and Libby Barnacle

The Chamber is a regional chamber of commerce with members from multiple surrounding communities.  The Chamber acts as a voice of the business community in the Eastern metro area to serve as an advocate for their members.  Their primary objective is to create positive business environments and encourage growth and long-term economic vitality.  

Centennial Airport Community Noise Roundtable

City Council Liaison: Donna Johnston and Libby Barnacle

The mission of the Centennial Airport Community Noise Roundtable (CACNR) is to utilize partnerships to reduce airport noise for the benefit of neighboring communities.

Denver South Economic Development Partnership

City Council Liaisons: George Lantz

The Denver South Economic Development Partnership is a coalition of business and local governments that focus on issues affecting the Southeast Corridor, including transportation, local business support and resources, workforce development, and business attraction and retention. The Village actively participates in the Denver South EDP in an effort to provide input on the future business of the Southeast Corridor.


Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG)

City Council Liaisons: George Lantz

The Denver Regional Council of Governments is made up of a forum of 49 local governments in the Denver metro area that are committed to addressing and solving regional challenges and issues facing the metro area such as growth and transportation. DRCOG works with local governments to find regional solutions to these issues.

Colorado Municipal League (CML)

City Council Liaisons: Dave Kerber

The Colorado Municipal League is an influential advocate of municipal interests on state and federal policies. The Village provides direction and input to CML on various state legislation of municipal concern being brought before the Colorado General Assembly.

Arapahoe County Government

City Council Liaison: George Lantz

There are a number of issues that impact the interests of both Village and Arapahoe County citizens. Through the City Council liaison, the Village continues to communicate with Arapahoe County in an effort to address issues of mutual concern and help foster a positive working relationship.

Metro Mayors Caucus

City Council Liaison: George Lantz

The Metro Mayors Caucus is a voluntary collaboration of the mayors of 31 cities in the Denver metropolitan region. The caucus was formed to provide a forum for regional cooperation where metropolitan leaders discuss and address a variety of issues that impact all of the metro area, ranging from air quality to youth violence.

South Metro Fire Rescue Authority

City Council Liaisons: Paul Wiesner

The fire districts protect and preserve the lives, property, and environment of our community from the hazards of fire, medical emergencies, and natural or man-made disasters in a socially responsible manner.

South Metro Denver Chamber

City Council Liaison: Donna Johnston and Libby Barnacle

The South Metro Denver Chamber is a regional partner in the South Metro business community. They work to build relationships among business leaders which result in collaboration, and ultimately, prosperity for South Metro businesses.
